OMOROVICZA QUEEN ON HUNGARY MIST

(RRP $99 for 100mL)

Claims:

The company websites says it was inspired the Queen of Hungary Water, a perfume formulated for the Queen back in the 14th century. It refreshens the skin and lifts the spirits. To be used for a midday pick me up or as toner. It suppose to instantly refreshes and balances the skin, and provides long hydration

Thoughts: I do find that when ever a spray the mist I do feel that "lift of my spirit" for lack of a better term. The scent of neroli and rose instantly wakes you up and want to take a breath of fresh air. As for hydration, it does feel hydrating, and unlike other water spritz it does contains some good humectants to help keep that hydration on the skin, instead of evaporating into the air, and further drying out your skin

Ingredients: The spray contains Hungarian Thermal water and Saccharomyces (Hungarian Thermal Water) Ferment Extract, but what makes it so great? Hungary has over 118 natural spring water, and it lies deep below the earth surface enriched with trace elements such a since, sulfur, calcium, magnesium, bomine, sodium to name a few. This mineral rich water is said to be detoxifying and anti-ageing. It also contains good humectants to hydrate the skin (in this case: mannitol and phospholipids), antioxidants (Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Malpighia Punicifolia (Acerola) Fruit Extract, and Yeast Extract).

Repurchase? I have in the past (this was my 3rd bottle from memory) and I would - I don't use it as my everyday hydrating mist, but more when I really need a pick me up, as the scent does do exactly that and the softness of spray is a true mist that gives it like a spa like sensation. I generally wait for them to do limited edition bottle (I like things to be pretty - and so I have purchased their Queen of Hungary Molten Metals kit, which has 3 x 50mL bottles in different metallic packaging and it works out a little cheaper and gives me the option to have a few bottles lying around i.e. in the fridge for hot days and one in my bag).

Is it necessary? Simply put, if your on a budget, don't splurge on a face mist, save it in the heavy duty categories such as serums, there are plenty of others out there that do the same job at a much more affordable price.

CHANTECAILLE ROSE DE MAI FACE OIL

( RRP $285 for 30 mL)

Claims:

100% natural infused with botanical to lessen the appearance of fine lines, and promoting a brighter complexion

Thoughts: This is a truely beautiful oil that easily absorbs, leaving my skin with a dewy finish. Being Chantecaille it is a luxury product and not for those on a budget. It contains an array of good ingredients in it, to nourish the skin and feels amazing to apply. If you are looking for an all natural face oil in the luxury category this may be worth a try.

Ingredients:

The main oil base is Sweet Almond oil and it also contains squalene (a really good humectant). Some of the other oils in the product also provides antioxidant effects in addition to being an emollient include Grape Seed oil, Evening Primrose Oil, and Raspberry Seed Oil.

Actual rose oil wise it contains: RoseHip, Evening Primrose, Rose Damascena, and Rose Geranium. The Rose de Mai in this product is actually an extract of it (listed as "Rosa Centifolia Flower Extract" about half way down the list)

Repurchase? I love face oils - its my thing - that and face masks. If I had all the money in the world I would repurchase. It's just too expensive and I'm in the process of trying out alternatives that gives me the same hydration, dewy look at a much lesser price - I will review these oils in future post

CLARINS EXFOLIATING BODY SCRUB

(RRP $55 for 200 mL)

Claims: For baby soft, good as new skin. Bamboo powder polishes and softens the skin, Moringa to detoxify, Mimoa temiflora bark to soothe and Shea to give provide a protective film. The skin is firmer, more resilient and soft to the touch.

Thoughts: This is my favourite all time scrub, it can be applied on damp or dry skin ( I personally like to apply it on dry skin before a shower). It gives great gentle exfoliation - it doesn't feel like I'm ripping my skin off. It has a very classic Clarins spa/product scent - and gives me a sense of relaxation and a spa treatment feel - all I need is for someone to be applying it for me, especially where I can't reach myself (aka my back) and I'm in heaven. True luxury feels. After washing it off, my skin feels smoother, my creams/lotions absorbs better, leaving my skin baby soft.

Ingredients:

The main exfoliant is Microcrystalline cellulose (wood pulp) with some bamboo extract (listed 7th on the ingredient list). It does contains some humectants as well in the form of Caprylic triglyceride,Dimethicone, Cetyl alcohol, Polyglyceryl-3 Diisosterate, and shea butter.

There is also Sodium coco Sulfate (which contains sodium lauryl sulfate) and fragrances - so those of you whome have issues with sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) or fragrance may want to avoid this product

According the Clarins website "Mimoa tenuflora Bark extract" is advertised as an active ingredient with 'healing properties' however, its the last ingredient on the list so I doubt it really has enough to do anything

Repurchase? Already have. As mentioned before, its my favourite body scrub, not the cheapest, but it does last a while, as I only use it once a week. There are cheaper scrubs out there but I like the feel of the finer polisher over other scrubs. My body has no issues with SLS and fragrances doesn't normally an issue for me - and if you haven't noticed already from this blog, I like my products with a bit of scent that gives me them spa like feels - shoot me.

BIO OIL

(RRP $34.99 for 200 mL)

Claims: Helps improve the appearance of scars, stretch marks and uneven skin tone

Thoughts: I liked how it quickly the oil absorbs and has a dry touch feel once it is absorbed. I found when ever I feel my tummy growing and stretching, I get this really itchy feel that this oil really helps soothes. I also found this time round, during my pregnancy I occasionally with get 'ant-bite' like pain at my c-scar (I'm assuming due to the stretching of the scar) and when I apply the oil it helps soothes it and the pain instantly goes away. Does it help with stretch marks and scars - I got both from the first pregnancy, but I'm not sure if it really helped heal my stretch mark (it generally takes 6 to 12 months for the stretch marks to lighten) - mine lighten at the 6 months mark, not sure if thats due to genetics or because of the oil. I like it and it feels nice to apply.

Ingredients:

First ingredient on the list ins Paraffinum Liquidum - a form of mineral oil. Mineral oil has had some bad press in the past, being that is can lead to clogging of pores etc. I have had no issues with mineral oils on my skin, but if that's and issues for you, something to consider. Sustainability of mineral oils is another possible issues and if its something you want to ethically avoid, this is not the product for you.

BioOil also contains Retinyl Palmitate (aka form of Vitamin A) which is an ingredient that is normally advised against during pregnancy due to its possible teratogenic effects but according to Bio Oil's website, the amount in here is negligible (I will be doing a post on pregnancy skincare and talk about vitamin A in the coming weeks)

Other oils in the product include Chamomile oil. Lavender Oil, Rosemary Leaf oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, Soybean Oil, which provides antioxidant properties to the product.

There is about 11 different fragrances listed in the ingredient list, and the fragrance is quite strong in this oil. So if you prefer to avoid fragrances, this product is not for you

Repurchase?

Long story short - maybe. It is reasonably priced, easily accessible (you can find it at any pharmacy, and routinely is on sale) and it is easily absorbed without leaving an oily residue on my clothes. I'm in different to this product really. Its nice, but I have other oils in my rotation that I prefer. If your looking for a hydrating body oil, their are cheaper options you can get something such as a plain Sweet Almond Oil. Looking for something a bit more luxe but not too crazy budget, then there is the French Pharmacy Brand Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil (it has a cult following - and I can understand why). If your looking for something to reduce stretch marks and scar - the pharmacist in me says there isn't really a product that can do that - it really comes down to genetics.
